The thickness tolerance standard – according to BS EN315:2000
Some customers inquire of the standard for thickness tolerance of plywood / film faced plywood .
Firstly, I post the EU standard for thickness tolerance of plywood / film faced plywood (BS EN315:2000) .
Frankly speaking, this thickness tolerance standard is not strict . Because it’s a thickness tolerance standard that is applied for plywood of from low quality to good quality .
Plywood of good quality can have smaller thickness tolerances . If a factory is equipped with good Sanding Machine, the thickness tolerance on each sheet of thick plywood(over 6mm) can be as small as 0.2/0.3/0.4mm and the thickness tolerance of thick plywood(over 6mm) can be +/-0.3/0.4mm , which is tiny .
Usually plywood of low quality have bigger thickness tolerances . Mainly because the core veneers of low quality plywood are of non-uniform thickness and the related craftsmanship / quality control system are simple .
Our new factory is equipped with good Sanding Machine . So we can maintain small thickness tolerances for good quality plywood/film faced plywood / blockboard . However, in order to maintain small thickness tolerances, the costs and prices will rising . If the customer can afford the prices for small thickness tolerances, we will can produce these products for him .
But please also consider whether it’s necessary to maintain so tiny thickness tolerances for your end uses .
